This year of 2013 brought two monumental milestones for Dalton’s, King Door Company. Founded in 1963, King Door is now celebrating its 50th anniversary. The company has built its business on sales, service and installation of: residential garage doors and electric operators, commercial and industrial overhead acting doors, personnel doors, loading dock equipment and other specialty building equipment products. King Door’s customer base stretches beyond the Northwest Georgia area into SE Tennessee, NE Alabama and Western North Carolina. With 50 years worth of business in the form of products sold or service, King Door has well established its self in the market as a leader in the overhead door and loading dock equipment business.
A concentration of King Door Company’s efforts can be found in the area’s flooring industry related facilities. As many of the common house hold brand names grew, King Door was right there maintaining dock doors and loading dock equipment to get the product to the flooring retailers. The flooring industry facilities have relied heavily on the professional and safe service of King Door to keep raw goods flowing in and finished goods flowing out. These goods travel through dock doors and across loading dock levelers that require constant service and maintenance.
In the midst of celebrating King Door Company’s 50th anniversary, a merger was finalized with national door and access control leader, D.H. Pace Company, Incorporated. Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, D.H. Pace, is one of the largest and oldest door and access control companies in the country. The Company traces its roots back to the 1920’s with the invention of the upward – acting garage door. Offices were established under the distinctive Overhead Door Corporation Red Ribbon logo in St. Louis (1926), Kansas City (1927), and Atlanta (1935). Today, there are more than 20, D.H. Pace, offices nationally.
King Door Company operates still very much as a local business. Beyond adding some new jobs, not much has really changed within the company. Located conveniently off of Walnut Avenue, King Door has a great showroom and friendly staff that invites you to stop in anytime! kingdoorco.com
Veritas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu opened in 2010, in Dalton, Georgia and has recently moved to 2011 Cleveland Highway, across from the Dalton Country Club. Veritas BJJ is a family friendly gym, excited to grow the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and help individuals and families reach their personal BJJ and fitness goals.
Classes at Veritas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are offered for adults and children and range from forty-five minutes to ninety minutes long. Each class varies from day to day, but will always include a warm-up, technique, and “rolling” or sparring. Scheduled classes are offered on weeknights and on weekends. Personal and custom Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training and private lessons are available for groups or individuals.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes taking an opponent to the ground and utilizing ground fighting techniques and submissions involving joint locks and chokeholds. The premise of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is that most of the advantage of a larger, stronger opponent comes from superior reach and more powerful strikes, both of which can be negated when grappling on the ground. Sport Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu focuses on submissions without the use of striking. This allows practitioners to practice at full speed and with full power, resembling the effort used in a real competition.
The staff at Veritas BJJ have multiple years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, American Wrestling, and no-gi submission grappling. Jason Finnell, head instructor at Veritas, is a BJJ purple belt under Tommy Wales and Renato Taveres of American Top Team Vero Beach. Jason was a three time Tennessee state champion wrestler at McCallie School in Chattanooga, and wrestled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Jason is a graduate of UTC, with an MBA from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee. Assistant instructor, Derek Cleary is a BJJ brown belt, and UFC judge. Students at Veritas BJJ have a wide variety of skill levels. Opportunities to compete in local and regional events are available to all Veritas students.
Training methods include technique drills in which techniques are practiced against a non-resisting partner and full sparring in which each opponent tries to submit their opponent using any legal technique. Physical conditioning is also an important part of training at Veritas. Beginners and advanced practitioners are welcome. Regardless of your experience level, our program will allow you to get in shape, sharpen your skills, and have fun doing it! The best way experience Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is to try it out. A free trial class is offered to anyone who wishes to experience Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu first hand. We hope to see you soon.
